There Is Always An Upside 🙂
Hi Chocolate Wonder!
How are you ?
Reply to this email to tell me. Yes I really want to know and I will really read your email!😍😍
If you can believe it, The Upside Weekly is officially one month old! Que the band !!! 🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵🥳🥳
I named this newsletter The Upside Weekly because being the parent of special needs children is challenging on a daily basis. Moment by moment things change. Forward or backward. Up or down. Left or right. For better or worse something is always moving 🚚🚛…. and that, my friends, can be both dizzying and discouraging at times. I want us all to see in the words we read here weekly that there really is always an upside to every moment and every situation we find ourselves in. Please never forget, there is always an upside😉 .
Every month I will be including new coloring page I have designed just for you and it is totally free for you to download. Just my thank you for being a continued subscriber and reader of this newsletter. Click here for your free download.
How are u liking it so far?
What would you like to see here in the future?
Please hit reply and send me your thoughts. I would love to read them.
But enough about me and the newsletter. Let’s talk about us 🧋🧋🧋🧋 …..
Our children blossom differently. They may bloom by mastering one skill at a time or juggle getting better at different skills simultaneously. Though our babies may master holding a pencil and proper letter formation at different times in their development doesn't make their victory any less valid. I would argue that their patience and persistence increases the value of their victory because they had to work harder for it.
But what about us?
What about the parents and caretakers?
Well it's our victory too🏅🏅🏆! We drove them to therapy, we kept in contact with the teacher, we did all the necessary things like even sharpening pencils and then hiding them once handwriting practice has ended. We helped. We were consistent and persistent. We didn't give up and most of all, we believed that our babies could do it. Our contribution counts even though the congratulations are few and far between.
It can make us as parents feel kind of like wallpaper. Everyone notices when it's time to get rid of or clean or update the wallpaper, but when it is being the best wallpaper it can be and succeeding........ crickets!! Rarely is a compliment given. That is so messed up….
Don’t forget to congratulate yourself and praise the God you serve. Don’t wait for the compliment. Give yourself one. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

You Are The Only You That You’ve Got
You have done your best as a parent and that is enough. I am proud of you for making it this far. Congratulations on all your children's recent victories as well as yours.
Please remember to celebrate your wins one Bloom at a Time, and don't forget about your own self care. It is a must. Employers prioritize time off for employees in high stress jobs where their lives are on the line. We have to do the same. Grab some crayons or markers and kick your feet up and use the coloring I have included below as your me time today. Download it Here then grab a crayon, colored pencil or even marker and have at it.
