Hello, My Chocolate Wonders!

I haven't talked about 💵 money 💵 yet and I thought now would be a good time. As I sit here typing to you, I am in my home salon where I service my natural hair clients. It was raining all night and the first thing I saw when I walked in this morning was water on the floor😨😢. The 2nd thing I did was panic. The 3rd thing I did was put a bucket under it with a paper towel inside so I could see how serious the leak from the ceiling light was. The last thing I did was start typing this message to you. It seemed like the perfect time.

People don't understand that when you have a child with special needs, your earning power can be seriously hindered. You being present and available for your child who has needs that don't operate by the clock or calendar, means that you may not be able to take that job that you are super qualified for and that pays well because the demand on your time will be too much. So you take more flexible jobs that pay way less. You take retail jobs that are not stimulating to you or in cases like mine, you purposefully drop out of the workforce altogether and create your own streams of income.

I just want you to know that I see you. I see you sacrifice for your child in ways that other adults can't see. I salute you. Ignore the judgment of others. I encourage you to push through the frustration and know that God will make a way. Don't allow your current financial circumstances to speak for you. Realize and remember you are capable of much more, you just chose to give your child, or children, that more. It was a good decision even if right now you are feeling the pain of not having enough. When problems arise that I have no money to solve, after I calm down, I intentionally pray and ask God for a "no money solution" to the problem I am facing. “God show me a way to repurpose something I already have or someone I already know to solve this problem” I love that prayer because many, many times it has worked right in front of my eyes. If you believe in Him, and you are in need, try it and let me know what happens.

As I sit here looking at this bucket and my ceiling I am trying to encourage myself as well. God has made a way for me to own my own business and for that I am eternally grateful. It allows me the flexibility to schedule and reschedule if necessary as my unpredictable life unfolds daily.
